This is a three days in-service training conducted at any school or school district level.
The goal is to build a low cost, user-driven, and freely sustainable interactive and instructional website for all schools through the optimal utilization of education-centric and free to use web applications and open source tools that are publicly used in the Internet world.
At the end, we see all schools able to provide the cost-effective and sustainable website for the teachers, administrators, and learners to publish, interact, and transact -anywhere and anytime inside the Internet. The school website become the secure place for the students or pupils to visit and find instructional activities to do inside the Internet at any place with computer access.
The approach involves the acquisition of the open web applications that is free or low cost, and able to provide the non-techie procedures and tools for the users to manage the setting-up, development and maintainance of the website -anywhere and anytime. The acquired public web services must be able to provide the domain name services, content and interactivity hosting, file store and share, and secure Internet classroom.
Secondly, the utilization of Windows based open source software to provide free authoring tools to produce digital documents, multimedia presentations, images, video and web page.
Thirdly, the re-purposing of the available web style sheet to suite the school content storyboard, content licensing, and acceptable terms of use. privacy and security policy, and
Fourthly, the identification of the competency standards to guide the capability building of the Non IT teachers, administrators, support personnel, and IT service personnel on web services acquisition, evaluation and planning, site authoring and testing, and usage promotion and evaluation.
